I have some world news to report. Two days ago, Mikhail Gorbachev was ousted from power. He was on a month long vacation when some of his advisors asked him to resign. He refused; they essentially said he would be “sick” for a long time. His vice-president took over. As of 10:00 this morning the attempted coup was almost over. Some of the higher-ups in the U.S.S.R. didn’t like the way some of Gorbachev’s reforms were going. He was leaning more toward democracy and some of the leaders prefer the hard line communism. There is some speculation that even thought the coup is over, Gorbachev may not return to power. Some people think that Boris Yeltsin, president of the Republic of Russia, will be the next man in charge of the U.S.S.R. I’m kind of glad the whole thing is over. A change in the government heads of the U.S.S.R. would not be good for anyone, specifically the U.S. or the people of the U.S.S.R.

Work at Tyler’s is going well, although I have nothing good to say about it. I got in trouble tonight for discussing my wages with someone else. It’s really hard not to keep anything from anyone there because of the number of people that work there. I suppose I will look back over this years from now and think it was really dumb to talk about my wages at work, but this is the kind of stuff going on in my life right now.
