I Have Wonderful News!

Where do I begin? How about the beginning...of last weekend? Friday, just over a week ago, I got a call for an interview. The position was for Assistant Manager at Carlton Cards. That's the "Hallmark Store" if you will, for American Greetings. I was trying to explain it to a friend of mine, who shall remain nameless (we have to protect the guilty, you know), and when I said that Carlton was the Hallmark of American Greetings, he asked, "Who's cards does Hallmark sell?" (If you don't know the answer, email me privately. I'll be sure to let you know without embarassing you, too!)

But I digress. I got a call for an interview with Carlton on Friday, for Monday. I also had scheduled an interview at the Newark Airport (EWR) for a part-time baggage handler position. I ended up rescheduling that for a time to be determined. M&M's World also called me on Friday. This is a store in the center of Times Square that sells all things M&M. Or should I say, ALL things M&M. I thought it would be a cool place to work, and when they called me, I was terribly excited. Until they asked my availability. For the past two months, any time I've been asked my availability, I could proudly offer 24/7. This time I had to say "Any time between 5am and 10pm. They said they needed 24 hour availability. I'm not sure I understand why, but they left the door open if my availability changed.

I had to limit my availability because I started this past Monday with UPS. It pays a pittance, but the opportunities seem to be endless. It is extremely overwhelming, but I think I will get it with a couple weeks practice. I enjoyed the last week of work, and look forward to seeing what I can do with a career there.

I met someone last weekend. His name is Ismael, not Ishmael or Islam. He seems to be a really nice guy, and seems genuinely interested in getting to know me and what I'm all about. It's nice to have met someone finally, who initiates calls to me. I'm supposed to see him tonight, and I'm really looking forward to it. More to come on that-probably later this week.

It's been a great week. I'm very much encouraged, especially after the last couple weeks of nothing going on. I hope it continues!
