A New Endeavor
Last week I applied, kind of on a whim, to work at FAO Schwarz. You may remember it from movies like "Big" or "Home Alone 2." They emailed me and said they wanted to talk to me, so I went in for a group interview. The process was interesting and somewhat disorganized, but the long and the short of it is that I, along with 25 others, was hired on the spot. Yesterday was orientation. I don't know my schedule yet, but it will be overnight stocking. Just in time for the holidays.
This is why I love it here. I have a job that pays the bills, but last fall I worked at UPS for some extra cash and this fall I will be working at the world's best know toy store. I can do anything I want to do! Who knows what I'll be doing a year from now? Whatever it is, it will be fun.
My parents are coming to visit! Twice. First, they will be here just after my birthday for a day or so, and then they are coming back for Christmas. I can't wait to see them, as I probably won't be able to make it home for Thanksgiving. I wish that Tim and Nichol and their kids could come for Christmas, too. New York is such a magical place at Christmastime, and considering my part time employment, it would be great to take them over to the store. I'm terribly excited about this job, and can't wait to see where it leads me.
